Letter From The Chair

Letter From The Chair

Welcome to our latest edition of the CAC newsletter. You may have noticed that this is actually our first newsletter for the academic year. You may be wondering, why did it take so long to produce it? Is there nothing happening in the division right now? Did the newsletter simply fold?

No, we are still here, still accomplishing great things and still produce our CAC newsletter. So, why the delay? The answer to this question is somewhat simple. Our newsletter is written, edited and uploaded to the web exclusively by UWT students. And, we have some very talented students, as you can see when you peruse through this current issue (or, if you go back and look at some of our previous ones). However, their talent, drive and creativity are matched in intensity by their school, work and family obligations. In other words, when they volunteer to work on the CAC newsletter – that’s right, they volunteer – they have to find a way to fit this new assignment into their already ridiculously busy lives.

Most of the time, this process goes fairly smoothly. The students sleep a little less, work a little harder and, voila, the newsletter comes out on schedule. Sometimes, though, despite the best intentions, there just aren’t enough hours in the day and the newsletter falls behind schedule.

This is what happened this year. I can’t promise it won’t happen again. It is merely a trade off that we in CAC have decided is worth it. Sometimes, we may come out a little behind schedule but the real-world experience our students gain far outweighs the slight delay in publication.

I’m proud of what our students have accomplished in producing this issue of the CAC newsletter and I hope you enjoy it as well. And, remember, if you want information about us more often, just check us out on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/iasatuw.tacoma/?fref=ts
